6th -8th Grades
|
Mission Statement:
The purpose of The Factory Shoals Junior Beta Club shall be to promote the ideals of character, service, and leadership among students, and to reward students for their academic achievement.
|
Club Membership (Academics):
To be eligible for the club, all students must have a minimum of average 3 "As" and 2 "Bs" in any subject.
Sixth grade students will be invited to join after the first quarter if they have met the criteria in any subject area.
New students enrolling from other schools will be invited to join the Junior Beta Club after they have been enrolled at Factory Shoals Middle School for one semester with same criteria in their academic subjects, and school records from their previous school indicate their eligibility to join the club.
In order to stay in the club, students must maintain an 80- 90 average in their academic subjects. A Junior Beta sponsor will be checking student averages each semester. If a grade average falls below 80, the student will be put on probation. If the grade average does not return to an 80 average or above for the second consecutive semester, the student will be removed from the Junior Beta Club. A member must also pass all End of Semester or Grade Tests to stay in the club.
|
Club Membership (Character):
A Junior Beta Club member must set an example for the rest of the school. Therefore, any behavior that is not in keeping with the goals of the National Junior Beta Club will not be tolerated.
If a Junior Beta member is sent to ISS (In School Suspension) the member is put on probation. If the member is sent back to ISS for a second time in the same school year, the member will be removed from the Junior Beta Club. Once removed due to probation, the member will not be eligible until the start of the following school year. If a member is assigned OSS (Out of School Suspension) the member will be removed from the club and will not be eligible again in middle school.
|
Club Officers and Representatives (Leadership):
Model behavior is expected from the club officers and representatives of the FSMS Junior Beta Club. If the behavior of any officer or representative results in 1 ISS (In School Suspension) then the officer or representative will be removed from that leadership position and membership status will be - Probationary.
6th, 7th, and 8th grade members elect a President, Vice-Presidents, Secretary, Treasurer, Publicist, and Chaplain to serve for one school year.
