Ms. Karna Kelly is native of Atlanta, Georgia born at “The” Grady Hospital. She began
her career as a paraprofessional and then as a special education teacher at Cedar
Grove Elementary School, a Title I school in south DeKalb County. She is a proud
graduate of Clark Atlanta University where she received a Bachelors in Psychology,
Master in Special Education and a Specialist in Educational Leadership.

In 2001 employed by Atlanta Pubic Schools she worked as a Math Instructional Coach

for four years at Connally Elementary and Kennedy Middle schools. This position put
her in the role of as a master teacher and coach for other teachers.

In 2007, she relocated to the Douglas County School System and served as an

Assistant principal at Lithia Springs and Mt. Carmel Elementary schools before
becoming Principal at North Douglas Elementary. In 2021 she was appointed the
position of Performance Learning Center Coordinator.

Ms. Kelly has 26 years of experience as a teacher and administrator in three different

school districts. Ms. Kelly has certifications in early childhood and middle grades
education, special education, reading and math endorsements as well as leadership.


Those experiences, combined with her zest for growing our students, has positioned her
to be the best fit for leadership in the Douglas County Schools. Ms. Kelly is excited and
committed to the Success of all of our students.
